Escaping the winter blues on a jet plane?
Baby it’s cold outside!! It is that time of year for some of us where we want to escape the cold, catch some rays and add some vital Vitamin Ds to ward off the winter blues. When escaping, air travel specifically, can wreak havoc on your skin. The minute you board a plane, you’re exposing your skin to insanely dry, stale, recycled air. Not to mention, the dull look on your skin when you land, ugh! Your moisture-sapped skin will need all the help it can get. Here are some of my go-to’s when I travel.
- Keep Your Skin Hydrated
I know, I know, this is a repeat in all of our skincare routines. However, the more hydrated your skin is, the younger and more supple it will look. Hydration will help your skin manage the stress and keep it looking beautiful for the duration of your trip. Apply moisturizer, like my VLB’s Skin-Loving Nourishing Face and Neck Cream, use water sprays and of course hydrate from the inside out by drinking water throughout your flight.
- Don’t Forget to Apply Sunscreen on the Plane
Wait, What?! Yes, wear sunscreen, especially before takeoff. Did you know that you are 10,000 feet closer to the sun when you’re in an airplane and at higher risk of burning than when you’re on the ground? Studies have shown higher rates of skin cancer in pilots and flight attendants. While you can control whether your window shade is open or not, you can’t control everyone else’s around you.
- Travel with an Eye Mask
Beauty sleep is one the most surefire ways to look refreshed after a long flight so I always pack an eye mask for some much-needed shut eye. It helps with puffiness too!
- Dry Lips are a No No!
I hate the feeling of dry, chapped lips and this is prone to happen on your flight. Try an oil-based lip balm or tinted lip balm and keep using as needed during your flight. You’ll be sure to have a plump pout!
