Victoria Watts had never been challenged more than the events that followed the birth of her son, Cyrus.
“We had noticed pretty early on that his eyes were not tracking the way they should,” Watts said.
Doctors later discovered Cyrus had been born with a genetic disease known as familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR). FEVR is a hereditary disorder that affects the retina with symptoms that include vision loss, blindness, and/or retinal detachment.
“I knew that I wasn’t going to give him his vision back,” Watts said. “I’m not going to find a cure, [but] I can use my voice and raise awareness for this.”
Around the time of Cyrus’ birth, Watts had been working on a line of skincare products called Victorialand Beauty.
